October 10–13, 2013
For New York Comic Con there was less construction and for the most part the crowd was more manageable because of the new badge counterfeit deterrents worked for the most part. The inflow of people was much faster than years previous. They increased Thursday hours which was nice for those attendees. Going as press again was not really a viable option. Press access for the last few years unless you were a large team made it near impossible to get anything done or sacrifice 4 hours to get 15 minutes of work done. Aside from that unless you bought the most expensive passes, you were likely not able to get into the Main Panel room ever. The line started in the morning and never stopped. They never cleared the room out so people just sit in there all day. The Empire Stage was another large panel room they created for other events. They had costume contents but given the lines and hearing that they were starting late we passed on those. Other than those points NYCC’s economic engine kept turning. The convention floor for exhibitors was opened up even more as the construction was done. Artist alley was busy. Other than that. For 2014, make sure you get your tickets early.
